Back in Los Angeles flying news......
I've been having more fun going from flying fire to news in just days. Every week I get to switch it up and fly so many different kinds of missions and travel to so many areas and jump from machine to machine and see old fire buddies and hang out with my news friends that I've known for years. Flying out of Van Nuys is so much fun, especially now with all of the firefighting aircraft staged there and ready to go. I get a chance while on shift to go talk to the pilots and crews while at VNY. It's always and airshow there as well. From watching amazing planes and choppers, to little Pitts doing straight pull ups on takeoff, to even just a Gulfstream taxiing by the ramp, it's such a rush for an aviator to take it all in in ONE PLACE!!!!! Van Nuys is like the center of the world for aviation in Los Angles. For those who need inspiration or an uplift, go to VNY and your spirits will soar!

Hi,
I found your blog through such a convoluted way (blog to blog to blog) I've forgotten, but just thought I'd say hi! I'm a fixed wing gal north of the border also doing a not-so-typical flying job.
Neat blog - I especially love your fire and heavy-lift shots!
Hi Desiree,
remember this? ;)

Hi Desiree, I don't know if you remember me or not but I flew with you on the Zaca Fire when we saw the black bear running up the slope out of the Sisquoc. I stumbled across your blog by accident and thought I'd say hi. Take care, FBAN chick!
Neat video on the right side of this page:

Don't know if you knew him, but figured you may have. Remember "Captain Ron" the Rotary Wing Pilot and reporter in LA. He was also a Lt in the LA Sheriffs. He served in NAM as a pilot. He always wanted to fly, and earned his license as a teenager.
Ron was forced into retirement about 10 years ago due to serious illness. He died today at noon, probably a relief to him as he had quite a bit of pain.
We will never forget him.
