Chopper 2 Morning Show
Alex Calder and I had a great time flying this morning for the KCBS morning show. Like I said before there is just something fun about the mornings despite getting up at such and early and cold time of morning. Everyone flying the news choppers always seems to have fun flying around each other and joking around on the radio. As the fog rolled in near Torrance Alex was shooting it for Ricardo's weather segment. Alex spotted a seagull and we started to film the bird and follow it. At one point when we first were trying to catch up with the little guy, the next thing I know I was right on his tail and had to back off. It was pretty funny. I flew along side this seagull for the rest of the show. The anchors and weatherman loved it as did Alex and I. We got a good laugh out of this birds reaction to us flying along side him. The bird kept checking us out and then would fly towards us which made me have to move out of his way. It was quite fun and spectacular to be flying along this marvelous creature and putting it on TV. The station raved about how cool our shot was and we had a great time being part of the whole production. It's the silly and simple things that make our job so fun and started our day out great! I look forward to more great days in Chopper 2 with Alex Calder.

Morning flights can be magical.
Walking around the aircraft, flashlight in my hand, flashlight in my mouth as I crane my neck around to look under flaps and cowling and tugging on struts. At moments the world seems as silent as a cathedral before the sun comes up. Walking up to the FBO at WHP just before dawn, the coyotes began calling out one morning, I called back. All was good in the world.
Sounds like you flew alongside Jonathan Livingston Seagull! Beautiful!
I shot over Malibu Cyn. one morn in a Stearman, made a right as I hit the coast, got down low, hung my head out and watched a long, staggered line of Pelicans
flying inches above the lip of a wave, they banked away smoothly as the wave broke into foam and disappeared into the sand.Such perfection in their flight, every movement they made was touched with grace....
Sounds like yet another door has opened for you Desiree, Bravo!!
Hey Dez,
Alex Calder isn't related to Alexander Calder the Artists, is he?
I wish I was Alex Calder, sounds like alot of fun.

Hi Desiree,
Almost every day I hear on the news that more people are unemployed. Well, yeah, you are taking all the jobs!! Glad you are keeping so busy now since you said that while you had time off you were going to Mammoth and spending more money than you have!
With six jobs, do you ever start to drive to the wrong one? Seems like it would be easy to do.
Love the video of you flying the Corona police helicopter. Didn't know a helicopter could be flown on its side.
Fly safely,
Richard
May Babe!
Have a Hot & Spicy Birthday this Sunday!
