Hey Desiree!
9/15 Saturday I went over to VNY to meet Mike Pupich who owns a B-25 Mitchell that's named "Heavenly Body."
What an amazing plane and an amazing group of people who are keeping this plane running and alive! One of the people I met there sitting under the left wing was this grand gentleman that you might know because he too was in One Six Right, his name is Harold R. Knowles, Major USMC, (Ret.) I could have sat there all day and listened to this man and his aerial combat stories of him and his fellow flyer's in their Corsair's fighting against the Japanese and the Koreans.Unbelievable!!
I could type all day about him but the one thing I wanted to share with you was that Major Knowles was the first man to land a helicopter on the White House lawn. As he puts it "I flew The Man (Eisenhower) a couple of times and marine pilots have flown The Man ever since."
"Heavenly Body" has a website too.
They are facing eviction from their hanger so if you want to see her up close and personal, don't wait!
Have a great Sunday out there!
