Thank god for body armor.....

because it sure saved me from some serious road rash and bruises last week on friday the 16th. It's like I'm going into battle with mother nature when I suit up for a dirtbike ride. I never think about crashing on my street bike, but with the dirtbike, the thought is a reality almost every other ride.

Last Friday was an epic day for riding, even though it was a short ride before work.

Here we are before our ride. Chopper pilots, Kevin Walton, Pat Thy, myself and my friend Duane Potts.

On a little break in Texas Canyon.

I should have taken an after pic, after I crashed my bike. Lol. My pants got ripped and of course, nice and dirty after that ride.

The joys of riding. Good times!

8CH, she always caught my eye. A beauty. Taking off from One Two I always look down at the new Heli pads to see what I can see. If 8CH was there and I was flying the pattern I'd always land farther down so I could taxi by her and pause for a moment while shutting off my carb heat and the other stuff. Very sexy and strong looking.
Funny about the bike stuff. When the flight surgeon wrote up his report on me and asked if I had any Tats or scars I showed him my road rash. He said "That'll work."

lol. too funny about the road rash. i have a nice little scar from my first time dirt biking and not wearing elbow pads. should have gotten stitches but didn't want to be late for work. i recall having to go fly skyfox that particular sunday after my first ride when i first got my bike. yeah, 8CH was a beauty. i really missed her on my movie shoot friday. the BA did okay but the B2 would have performed better and also looked much sexier. lol.

Tiki torches are where it's at. When the earthquake hit I didn't mind the power being out. I set the Tiki torches off outside (I waited until there were no confirmed gas leaks. That would be a quick way to remodel your house and or neighborhood!) and watched the stars that one could see because of the lack of "light pollution." Felt rudely interrupted when the lights came snapping on after power was restored. Since then have made it a practice to have at least one evening a week where I light the house ala 1776.
Working on a commercial now for the rest of the week. It pays twice as much and you do half the work. But there is something about being on a movie. The tone is more "Simpatico", a little more relaxed at times where on a commercial the tension is higher and I don't get to see those owls.
I think next week we resume filming again up at Rocky Peak.
Hey Dez, I have a police ship and his Night Sun going on just now, I kid you not! Excuse me while I grab a glass of wine and see who might rocket through my yard!!!

Thought the package might bring back some Independence moments. The call caught me off guard and got me tongue tied!
Finally saw the footage of the fire. Very lucky, any moment and today could have been a nightmare.
Try not to inhale so much smoke next time, okay!? Hope Saturday's work goes quickly for you.

laguna, i know what you mean about commercial work vs. movies. i used to set decorate on commercials and know the difference between the two. money is better and commercials. i kinda like the fast pace too. not as much sitting around on the set of commercials which is great. i get bored. lol.
once again thank you for the package! very cool! nice surprise.
i was on call this past weekend and flew both days. stu did the reporting over the aftermath of the barham fire saturday morning and then we flew out to the los flores fire in hesperia that afternoon. sunday, back out to the los flores fire and stu got a shot at reporting again! he did good! chip and i will be gone for fires during the summer, mostly me gone, but chip doing relief etc, so stu needs to get up to speed on taking over for us. by the way, after richard mentioned getting me back on camera, i kid you not, that very next day, before anyone could have written to the station, they called and told chip they want a talent camera in the chopper to see all of us when we report! too funny and ironic! maybe i'll get paid for reporting now if i go on camera. lol.

Although it seems that you are by the way your diary reads,I hope you aren't riding your motorcycle after drinking martinis.
Not very bright.

1, i can see how you read that and took it the wrong way. i completely understand how it came across. i do not drink and ride. there is such a thing as a taste of a drink(a sip) which does not affect the average person. i agree with your comment and just will not publish anything that could be misunderstood in the future hopefully. anything i say on this blog is basically opening me up for critisism from anyone who reads it. it's just part of the blogging experience and learning process.
