Desiree I think everyone who posts here understands that you do ALLOTTTTT and it takes time. :-)
I was curious, in all your assignments with the forest service, have you ever been up to Chester/Lake Almanor up by Mt. Lassen? The reason I ask is there is a big fire base at the airport there and almost daily we would watch an old DC-6 take off out of there over the lake. If you've ever seen the movie "Always" it's almost identical to that. When they launch the DC-6, the local police has to close the street into town because they have to have the plane backed up over the edge of the runway, which puts it right beside the road, and when the pilot brings up the power, it blows sand, gravel, and all sorts of fun stuff across the road. Quite a thing to see if you ever get up there.
Desiree,
Thank you so much for your answers to our questions and responses to our comments. I know it takes considerable time and effort on your part, but we really enjoy hearing what you have to say and seeing pictures of you. Too, I appreciated hearing from someone who knows what she's talking about that the KABC helicopter's so-called "near-miss" was actually quite routine.
Did you mean just the California fires that you've been on when you said there has actually been about a crash a week?!!! Is aerial firefighting routinely that bad or was this something out of the ordinary?
Richard
