The Stanford fire!
Today we had a fire and I was the first to get launched on it. I made about 10 water drops before the single engine air tankers came in followed by the 205 then I was off back to the airport for fuel and they managed to put it out. The fire was 40 miles away so fuel became an issue. I can only drop 120 gallons at a time. The 205 holds 324 gallons and the SEATS drop over 800 but they have to return to the airport to reload with water, whereas us helicopters have a quick turnaround at the dip site. It was alot of fun! It is amazingly freezing out here. I was fully bundled up and fighting fire. Last summer I was sweating in the chopper, now it's freezing. Strange fire weather out here. Well, it's just plain dry and windy. That's all it takes for the fires. Supposed to be in the 20's tonight. Burrr! You guys rock! Thanks for the offers of the shirt! If you are serious about sending one I think I would wear a large if it's a girls shirt and it's fitted! Do they have ones with short sleeves? Not allowed to wear tank tops, although it's so cold I would probably just unzip my flight suit enough to show the owl and not worry about showing too much skin anyway! LOL I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express 1802 East Interstate Highway 20, Alilene, TX 76901 It would be too funny to wear that one day out here!

Desiree,
My t-shirt is a medium short sleeve. It's not fitted. Would that work?

Desiree:
Just a quick note to extend our best wishes for safe flight, and to thank you for the superb mentorship you've continually offered to so many aspiring pilots (including our dear friend Linzy).
We were pleased to see Kevin Roderick make mention of your blog at LA Observed, and look forward to hearing of your firefighting endeavors.
